Updates from sandbox
Hi,
I've set up a sandbox by cloning my installation of Lion (10.7.3) to an external drive. I've then updated the sandbox with Mountain Lion Developer Preview. Mountain Lion has a new version of Apple Mail, and when I launch it, it asks if I want to update my Mail files and database. Am I right in thinking that this would modify my original Lion Mail database and that there would then be a possibility that Mail in Lion would not be able to access it? Thanks, h_d |

It's possible, although they usually don't update in place. In that case, if you're using IMAP, your mail will re-sync when you go back to Lion. (Note that this would have happened Snow Leopard -> Lion as well.)
If you want to try, you should make a full backup of the original drive before trying the Mountain Lion conversion. That way, should anything go wrong, restoration is easy. Always recommended when doing this kind of thing...
