I assume you are familiar with the commercial application Retrospect? I am not super up to speed on non-SuperDuper shareware or cheaper software that might be available for incremental backup. I am reasonably up to speed on Retrospect. It will do what you/she need. It is not dirt cheap but is fairly priced, "good and reliable." I do not find it easy to use.
