Unable to Restore from Sparse Image - Scan error

I can define the sparse image as a source (from external Firewire drive), define the destination and I have also scanned for the image using Disk Utility but Disk Utility comes back with the following error:

"Unable to Scan image _______.__ (Invalid argument).

Its really important I revert back to 10.5 from Snow Leopard

This does not sound good...

(I booted off Snow Leopard DVD)

Rgds,

James

You need to follow the instructions in the User's Guide, James: mount/open the image, then restore from its mounted volume, not from the image 'file'.
