Question Duplicative Items in "Open With"

Dave,

I hope this makes sense…

1. I’ll use Cocktail to Rebuild Launch Services Database. After that, I’ll verify that when I “Get Info”, the “Open With” disclosure lists only one of each applicable application.
2. But after using SD, the “Open With” disclosure lists the applicable applications multiple times.

While I can replicate this, I am not certain if the issue is with SD or something in my setup (DP 800, 10.4.2).

Hardly of consequence since there are no ill effects and the remedy is a no brainer, still, I thought you might welcome the feedback and have a comment.

As always, thanks for the great product!

The reason you see multiple items, after using SuperDuper!, is because you're creating new copies of the applications (on the backup). Since the paths to these applications are different, LaunchServices puts them in again.

It's bizarre, but there's not much we can do...

Thumbs up

Ah, you professionals always make it look easy.

Thanks for the prompt reply Dave. I can now go back to lusting for the next version.

Glad that helped explain, at least!
