problem backing up drive
Evening all: I am trying to back up the internal drive on my MacBook Pro (running 10.4.11), which is crashing frequently. I'm trying to do this before taking it in to Apple to get fixed.Because it keeps crashing, I'm running it in target disk mode, connected to another mac and trying to back it up from there. But when I run it in full backup mode, I get an error at the same point:
| 08:34:26 PM | Info | /Volumes/Macintosh HD 1/usr | 08:37:01 PM | Info | WARNING: Caught I/O exception(22): Invalid argument | 08:37:01 PM | Info | WARNING: Source: /Volumes/Macintosh HD 1/usr/share/man/man3/.BC.JBcH2t, lstat(): 0 | 08:37:01 PM | Info | WARNING: Target: /Volumes/This/usr/share/man/man3/.BC.JBcH2t, lstat(): -1 | 08:37:01 PM | Info | Attempting to copy file using copyfile(). | 08:37:01 PM | Info | Attempting to copy file using ditto. | 08:37:01 PM | Error | ditto: can't get real path for source I'm not up on this sort of thing enough to figure out what the problem is here. Anybody got any ideas? I'd like to back up as much of the data on this drive as possible before I take it in... |

It's hard to say what this is, Richard. Certainly, the file it's getting from the source is bogus -- it could be that the drive itself is failing in weird ways...

You're probably right (which is why I am looking to swap it out). Is there a way to get SuperDuper to backup everything, but ignore errors?

There is not, no...

Well, you might want to think about that as a future feature; some sort of "copy what you can" sort of thing.
