FTS_NS error / input/output error on file copy

My most recent SuperDuper smart update copy failed with the following error in the log:

| 11:25:11 AM | Error | SDCopy: FTS_NS error for item: '/Library/Printers/Xerox/PDEs/Xerox DXP250.plugin/Contents/Resources/Italian.lproj/Production50Help/whdata/whtoc.js' err: 5, Input/output error

2007-07-24 11:25:11.787 SDCopy[322] FTS_NS error for item: '/Library/Printers/Xerox/PDEs/Xerox DXP250.plugin/Contents/Resources/Italian.lproj/Production50Help/whdata/whtoc.js' err: 5, Input/output error

I assume this is on the source drive? When I look at that area with the Finder, I notice a lot of folders/files with "--" as their name, and "--" for the date/time and size. However, when I run Tech Tool Pro against the File Structure and Finder Info, it doesn't find any problems. Any ideas how to resolve this? During the previous run of SuperDuper (unattended copy) when I found the computer in the morning the whole computer was locked up with a spinning beach ball that required the power button to be reset. So then after the reboot, I ran SuperDuper again and it gave this error this time.

So is my backup drive now in an unusable state? Any ideas what to do next?

Thanks,
Judd

You already asked this via email, Judd -- see my response to you there (which involves repairing the source).
