Photo Backup Strategy

Long time user here... SuperDuper just works!

So I am interested in making backups of my extensive photo libraries. The scenerio is this: an iPhoto library on the "family" computer, and a LightRoom Library on my trusty 2011 Macbook Pro 17". I have an external drive dock that I can use 2.5" and 3.5" bare drives with. What I would like to do, is initally backup JUST the photos, then from that day forward incrementally back them up. To that end, I have formatted a 1TB bare bones HGST drive into two equal partitions - one for each library. I have manually copied each library to its respective partition. This is where I think I might be going wrong... can you steer my process to the correct conclusion? Both Mac's are running 10.13.

Thanks.

So - you're trying to figure out how to select the library, on the source, for copy to its own volume/destination? (I'm not sure what "I have manually moved each library.." is referring to here, and not sure why that is "wrong".)

No - I know exactly where the photo libraries are. Once I copy each library to a partition... how do I (from that point on) perform an incremental backup of each library v. smart updating or copying an entire volume?

So, again, you're trying to select the library from the source - basically, one folder and what's below?

That is correct. Basically the "Pictures" folder on each volume.

So, use a new copy script. Include "Exclude all files" in the include tab, then add the folder you want to the Command tab, using "copy" as the command...
