Newbie Questions

I would like to start using SuperDuper for creating bootable backups and for sandboxing.

Do I need two partitions on my external drive? One for SuperDuper bootable backup and one for a sandbox? If so,

What size should the bootable backup be? 1.5 X the used space on my computers internal drive?

What size should my sandbox be?

Thank you

You will need two partitions. To determine the size you need for the Sandbox, create a Sandbox on a large partition. Add about 20% to the data size, and there's your size.

Followup

So, if I have an internal drive that has used 100 GB of space and I want to create a SuperDuper bootable clone, I would create a 120 GB partition on an external drive? (this assumes the 100 GB of data will not increase in the future)

And, if I also want to create a sandbox, then I would create an additional 120 GB partition on an external drive for a sandbox.

Thus, I would have two 120 GB partitions on the external drive.

Do I have this correct?

Thanks,

Jason

No. I'm saying you would create a Sandbox, temporarily, on a large partition. Let's say it took up 30GB. Your partition size for the Sandbox would thus be about 40GB (I'm rounding up).
