Perfect Spotlight Behaviour, is it possible?
Hello all,
Here's what I thought would be the perfect spotlight behaviour for backing up. 1. Indexing is disabled after backup (AFAIU this is already being done according to http://www.shirt-pocket.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361) 2. After successful recovery the indexing is restored (is this the case or not?) I'm wondering about 2 |

Keep indexing ON, but add the drive into the Privacy tab of the spotlight preference pane. We'll preserve and restore that state.

Which drive?
Dave -- Which drive... the source or the target? Can you explain why?

The target, because that's the one you don't want indexed. And -- why? Well, "Privacy" is what Spotlight uses for that exact purpose... maybe I don't understand your question.
