Backing up to the clouds

Here's what I'm after. I've got a remote server to which I'd like to be able to make fully automated incremental backups. For example, I could be out of town, my computer would boot up, Automator would log in to the server, SD would run and do its thing, and then everything would shut down.

Is this possible? Thank you!

Well... I don't think you're going to find performance to a remote server acceptable with SuperDuper, at least if it's over the internet/WAN.

I just had another idea - if I let it back up specific files to the same local hard drive via SuperDuper and then let Automator copy that file to the remote server. Do you think SuperDuper could hold its own in that arena? I'm really after the incremental part of the backup process.

Thanks-

I'm not sure I understand how that would benefit you: if you're going to copy with automator, why do the SD! step at all?

Because I wouldn't have to transfer the same gigantic folders over the net and could just do it in increments as they are updated. I'm not sure if automator supports incremental changes - in some instances the file is the same file but updates have been made to it, such as a quickbooks file.

Anyway, I'll do some more research and see if your product will fit my needs - I've heard so many great reviews and the promptness of your service is almost enough to make me buy it regardless! Thank you very much.

Ah. Well -- I don't think this would work. SD! "incrementally" updates your destination, but it's not going to 'separate out' the changes for you. So, you'll still have a whole copy, and you're back where you started...
