Backup Journaled FS to non-Journaled
I bought a new FireWire drive and forgot to re-format it as HFS+ Journaled. I ended up doing a Backup-all of my Journaled internal drive to the non-Journaled external drive. The backup appeared to work.
- is there a problem with backing up a journaled fs. onto a non-journaled one? - can/should I use disk utility to convert the external drive to journaled? will this mess up the backup state if I do that? - if I keep the external backup non-journaled, and then I need to restore the internal (journaled) internal drive from the backup one day, will the restore process end up re-formatting the internal drive to the same non-Journaled state as the external drive? |
