SD 3.7 Stops Mid Copy

I'm using SD 3.7 to copy files from one HDD to another on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.15.7. I tried copying a few times and all just stopped copying. I even tried re-installing SD 3.7.

Below is the last log after quitting SD 3.7.

So, it's either copying or deleting material at 1:57:15am, and you stopped it four minutes later.

Patience. It's doing something... it has nothing to do with the new version...

If you want to see more detail about what's going on, drop me a support email and I'll provide you with some command-line commands that can show you.

Yes, I did close it after a few minutes. The one prior to this sat for about 20 minutes before I stopped it to download and install the latest version before running the above copy. I will send you a support email shortly.

I have an expression: "a watched backup never seems to complete"

Seriously though, best to let things go sometimes and complete on their own time table, not yours.

With SuperDuper, I have found if a large number of files or a large quantity of MB or GB were deleted from the SOURCE volume and then you run SuperDuper to back it up, it can take a while for the TARGET drive to be made identical to the SOURCE, the deletions can take some time and there is no indication in the log why. I have learned to let it run its course. Waiting 4 minutes is not a long time. I have even seen 20 minutes. If the HDD are under APFS, and they are mechanical drives, those can be very slow under APFS.

Deletions seem to be one of the slower things in the file system...and very large folders are also slow to manage...

So how long should I wait? It's been over 40 minutes and nothing is happening.
It was going fine after I reinstalled the newest version but, this started once again after I upgraded in the app.

Both SSD drives are Mac OS Extended (Journaled) rather than APFS.

I gave up after watching SD for over an hour. I'll uninstall and reinstall a fresh copy before trying it again tomorrow.

Uninstalling and reinstalling won't help this kind of thing. Please send a support email to me and I'll help you determine what's going on.
