New iMac for wife - No more firewire

Wife's 2008 iMac had the 8800GS video card go belly up (this makes 2 of 2 on those iMac video cards) and I went and bought her a new iMac yesterday.

Of course it only has USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt.

Dave,

I know the firewire option gave a fully bootable backup. What connection option on the new iMac will allow this?

Backup drive is currently in a Star Tech enclosure that is FW/USB 2.0 and connected via USB.

Do I need a new enclosure for fully bootable backup?

Thanks

Carl

As explained in the System Requirements and the User's Guide, USB works fine on Intel Macs. Just make sure it's properly partitioned - see Help > Frequently Asked Questions, top question, for instructions.

Easier just to ask you Dave.

Seriously, thanks for the quick response.
