Need to redo my partition of a external HD

HI:

I originally partitioned my 500gb external HD as a 150/350 split.

I have a new computer with a larger HD and my partition split has become an issue in the way I set it up.

I believe that I would have to erase everything off of the external HD to do this, is that correct in that I cannot add and subtract the GB of the partition sides ?

I am not worried about the back up partition side BUT the 350 side has items that I do not want to lose.
Among them are extra iTunes and iPhotos .

Can you either advise me or direct me to the info if this can be done.

Greg
