Perfect Spotlight Behaviour, is it possible?

Hello all,

Here's what I thought would be the perfect spotlight behaviour for backing up.

1. Indexing is disabled after backup (AFAIU this is already being done according to http://www.shirt-pocket.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361)
2. After successful recovery the indexing is restored (is this the case or not?)

Keep indexing ON, but add the drive into the Privacy tab of the spotlight preference pane. We'll preserve and restore that state.

Which drive?

Dave -- Which drive... the source or the target? Can you explain why?
Thank you!

The target, because that's the one you don't want indexed. And -- why? Well, "Privacy" is what Spotlight uses for that exact purpose... maybe I don't understand your question.
