Does Super Duper's Smart Update find and copy hidden files such as .Trash? (I'm using the standard "Backup - all files" script with Smart Update in v. 2.5.)
If so, I would like to exclude .Trash from my backups. (I see in the SD manual how to do that using Ignore in a copy script.) The problem is that the .Trash files (if any) on the back-up volume may not be securely deleted, which is my preference. On my original volume I periodically securely delete Trash using multiple overwrites. My understanding from the Super Duper FAQ is that the Ignore command actually copies the "Ignored" files to the back-up and subsequently deletes them. As a result, there may be recoverable Trash files on my back-up volume. How can I make sure they are securely deleted via multiple overwrites? Thank you, Marc

Well, this wouldn't do it, because the original file wouldn't be securely deleted either - so when you moved it to the trash the original remnant would still be present...

Are Hidden Files Copied?
I think that answers my second question (though honestly I'm not sure).
Can you answer my first question: "Does Super Duper's Smart Update find and copy hidden files such as .Trash?"

Yes, it does.
