Old timer looking for new backup solutions

I have been using tape backup for years. Recently, I needed to recover a tape that was four years old. I have always used tape backups, but many people have advised that it’s just not the right system anymore.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can bring myself up to speed? My buddy suggested trying a web service so I could backup my data? Opinions on online backup?

Are you actually asking here, ableardo, or are you just trying to add links to those services -- none of which have to do with SuperDuper! -- to my forums?
