Possible maintenance benefit in using SD?

Heya-

I have some corruption issues (I think due to forcequits and filevault), but was wondering if there was any advantage in terms of cleaning up my computer by:

1. Performing a full backup per manual from another non-filevault user

2. Then wiping clean my source computer.

3. Then restoring

Does the backup restore whatever fragmentation etc. existed before? Or will this new copy be somehow 'cleaner'?

If this is a completely obvious question then I apologize, but I'm not too computer savvy. I was lucky enough to survive the Filevault corruption (and I'm not 100% sure everything is ok there either but Diskwarrior was able to remount it), I just want to improve the state of things if possible.

Thank you.
