Ignored definitely means "not copied" , but it's not because of the name. We don't have restrictions on the naming of files.
Ignored files are the ones that we don't copy because they have no meaning across a reboot, or interfere with booting on different machines. All can be regenerated automatically by the system, so there's nothing to worry about. (You can see an explicit list of all ignored files by examining the copy scripts, if you're interested.)
