Dead in the Water

I just bought SuperDuper and attempted to copy my boot volume to my external FireWire hard drive. No go - log file says:

|12:37:30 PM|Info| Transcript : BuildTranscript.plist
|12:37:31 PM|Info| PHASE: Volume Preparation
|12:37:31 PM|Info| ...ACTION: Erase External FW
|12:37:31 PM|Info| ......COMMAND => Erasing External FW
|12:37:41 PM|Info| Journaling has been enabled on /dev/disk1s3
|12:37:41 PM|Info| ......COMMAND => Restoring External FW UUID (4C39CDC1CDB9AEA6)
|12:37:41 PM|Info| ...ACTION: Enable Permissions
|12:37:41 PM|Info| ......COMMAND => Enabling permissions on Tiger
|12:37:41 PM|Info| Refreshing Disk Arbitration ...
|12:37:41 PM|Info| ......COMMAND => Verifying that permissions are enabled for Tiger
|12:37:41 PM|Info| Permissions on '/' are enabled.
|12:37:41 PM|Info| ......COMMAND => Enabling permissions on External FW
|12:37:41 PM|Info| Refreshing Disk Arbitration ...
|12:37:42 PM|Info| ......COMMAND => Verifying that permissions are enabled for External FW
|12:37:42 PM|Error| Could not disable Ignore Permissions

I upgraded to 10.4.3 yesterday - is this a 10.4.3 incompatibility or something else?
