Any way to backup my files w/ USB external HD and Super Duper?

Hi-
I was hoping to purchase Super Duper! to backup my files to my external HD, but I noticed that the User's Guide PDF says that this won't work-- you need a Firewire connection to an external HD. I'm very disappointed, since I can't purchase a new HD and need to work with the equipment I currently own... is there any way I can still use Super Duper?

Thanks for your help...

That's not what it says, actually -- you can use a USB drive, esme17. You just can't use it as a startup drive (unless you're using an Intel Mac).

Thanks Dave--
I think I understand, but just to be sure (since I'm new to the backup software scene), is this correct: I can use Super Duper to back up my files and programs to my external HD via a USB cord, I just can't use it as a startup drive (which I'd only need to do if my system crashed on my main HD). I can also use Super Duper to back up my files and programs to a series of DVDs, and if my system crashed I COULD reboot from those. Is this correct at all?

Thanks so much for the quick response and the help!

Almost. We don't support optical media.

But, you can start up from your OSX install disc and restore from your USB drive using that. See "Recovering from a disaster" in the User's Guide for the method.
