Super Duper hanging

I am currently trying to back up my entire hard drive using a FULL backup (never backed up with SD before). I've attempted it 5 times now, and it keeps hanging at the following step:

It is now 12:38 pm and no further activity is occurring with SD. It says 188,141 of 399,032 files copied. Effective copy speed 10.27 MB/s. 24.25 GB evaluated, 0.00 MB already up to date, 24.19 copied. This message has not changed in at least an hour.

I'm backing up to a LaCie 250 MB external HD connected via FireWire
