smart vs full backup

Dave,
I see in a previous discussion recommendations to perform a complete backup occasionally. I have used SD for years, and only do a "smart backup". My understanding was/is that if I backup up regularly (monthly) with a Smart Backup, that will back up any changes while retaining all the original data.

If a disaster should strike, won't my method work to restore everything from my backup drive?

thanks,

Yes. But, in general, when you have a major OS update, it's a good time to do an erase-then-copy (assuming you have other backups), since lots and lots of stuff will have changed at that point, and it'll clean up the drive and make sure everything's readable.
