Is a clone 100% identical to the source, or are there some traces/indicators/leavings that are carried forward or installed such that a clever chap (or chapette) could actually determine that the new/target volume is the result of cloning?
If so, what & where are the telltale signs?

There's no way to tell. You can certainly tell it's different, as the volume's unique identifier is different, but you can't really tell that it's a copy, as such.
