"can't allocate region" error

I'm backing up an XServe RAID prior to rebuilding it, and I'm getting the following error...

| 01:57:57 PM | Error | SDCopy(8488) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=8421376) failed (error code=3)
| 01:57:57 PM | Error | SDCopy(8488) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region
| 01:57:57 PM | Error | SDCopy(8488) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug

I turned off the option to copy ACLs, and I'm still getting the same error.

Ideas?
