Very very slow or locked back-up?

When I try backing up any partition it would copy the first 25-35mb normal then it slows to a halt on some small file like "cmyk_profile.bin". At one point, I left it overnite and it remained stuck, always ending up cancelling the copy. Doesnt matter if it's copying to image or straight volume copy.

I tried repairing permissions and "repair disk" on non-system partition and also have no MSDOS devices mounted.

OK, virtudesign. Assuming you don't have an AntiVirus program running, and aren't running a lot of programs at the time of backup, it's probably not stuck on that particular file, but rather some other one that's not being displayed. (We don't show the files being copied, just the "occasional" file being evaluated.)

So, here's what to do: run SD! again, and allow it to get stuck. Leave it there for a while to make sure it's stuck. Then, when you're convinced nothing is happening any more, open Terminal and run:

sudo lsof | grep SVU | pbcopy

That'll place the result onto your clipboard.

Open a mail message and paste and send the result to support. I'll take a look and see if I can find a reason.

Actually, please send it to support, as opposed to PMing it... that way I can track the problem!

(I can't forward messages in the PM system to support, so if you could resend using email to support I'd appreciate it.)

Well, looking at the various logs, there don't seem to be any files being copied at all at the time of the check, at least.

Have you booted from your OSX install CD and repaired your disk structure recently?
