FileVault documentation/feature request
I'm a FileVault user. When I started using SD I found that it backs up my home directory as a single, large file.
As many others on the forums have noticed, this is not ideal. The long backup times are inconvenient, but I worry about the integrity of that file if I'm not logged out. I'm simply NOT going to log out every night, btw. I'm about to try the recommendation to backup up my home directory separately, but I thought I would make two requests, one easy, one harder: 1. Please document in the manual or somewhere all the steps needed to backup a FileVault home dir as a separate volume. I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out, but it would be nice to have it spelled out step by step. 2. Why not add an option to SD to backup the home dir from the mounted volume, so that the backup is not a large single image? Scanning the forums I'm sure many would appreciate having this as an option - I certainly would. Thanks for a great app, -Mario |
