The meanings of Type errors - specifically 8!

I'm wondering where I might find out the meanings of an error type 8. SD reported the following error in the log, which appears to have stopped the backup

|11:30:34 AM|Info| Error copying /Library/Application Support/WB 2003 Download/mb200004.001 to /Volumes/backup_rob/Library/Application Support/WB 2003 Download/mb200004.001 of type 8

Ignorance, of course, is bliss which means I don't know whether to be joyous, panicky or just have a mental breakdown at this point :-)

Thanks for any suggestions

Rob

I'd have to see more of the log, Rob. Could you send the whole thing into Support (or at least the part that represents this full run)?

I had the same error .. do you get the gray veil to restart? I do ... anyway, it seems to point to an HFS issue, but for some reason neither apple disk utility nor techtool pro 4 can pick up the HFS corruption .. interestingly, I duplicated the file then deleted the original but forgot to remove it from trash. When I tried SD again, it fell over in the trash folder - so I assumed it must have been the file. But when I deleted it and restarted, it fell over elsewhere ... I use 10.3.9 and never tried it on any previous versions .. maybe 10.3.9 introduced a subtle change .. ?

Stan:

If you received a "grey veil" (a kernel panic), there's a panic.log that would help diagnose the problem. Could you send it into support? I'll take a look and see what kernel thing crashed (if there are symbols).

Thanks.
