USB 2.0 Full Backup

So I do believe I've done it now. Having recently bought a 160Gb internal drive for my MacBook, I backed up my current 80gb to a USB 2.0 external drive and then wiped the original. I installed the 160, then attempted to boot for the first time (yes, in hindsight I'm an idiot) from the USB. Nada. THe files are there, just no booting is happening (for the record, Sys. Prefs lists it as bootable). So I tried copying the external to a disk image- still nothing. I tried putting in my OSX CD and restoring. It won't let me drag the hard drive icons to the boxes lables "Source" or "Restore to".

Any help is greatly appreciated :0)

Oh- and if worse comes to worse, is there a tutorial on exactly how to drag everything back into its place manually?
