Backing up _FROM_ a SMB/CIFS server?

I have a mixed network of Macs and Windows machines, and serveral Snap Server (SMB/CIFS) file servers. I'd like to be able to back up the Snap Server shares to the Mac where I have SD running. (It's a G3 B&W with a ton of disk space, and backup is the machine's main job: to be an intelligent disk-based backup system.) At the moment, SD 2.1 (updated today, and I thank you) does not show the SNAP as backup source in the drop-down list.

Is there any way to do this? I have no need to make the Snap's SparseImage bootable, I just want it to exist! (In an even more perfect world, I'd like to be able to back up from my NTFS systems, but that's another day's wish.)
