How long does a 1.5 TB backup take?

I'm in the process of backing up about 1.5 TB of info. According to the speed at which the backup is going it looks like it will take the better part of 24 hours for the backup to complete. I'm backing up from and internal eSata drive on my MacPro to an external FW 800 drive. Is this normal for my comfiguration?
