Question Newbie Advice Please

Good evening, I've just purchased my first copy of SD and I was planning on the following strategy and wanted to see if it made sense at all or was completely off the mark!

I have an iMac, a 4TB Drobo and a Burly 6TB RAID0 array. I keep the majority of my data files on the Drobo, including video, ripped DVD's, Aperture photo's, Itunes library etc etc, using the iMac as a server and where I keep database files. In addition I have a Macbook Pro.

My intended strategy is to partition the Burly into three partitions and have separate SD backups for the Macbook, the iMac and the Drobo. My understanding is that partitioning is required for backups of different disks. I'm assuming I can backup the Macbook over my Airport network. Does this sound sensible and achievable?

My thought process is that I can swap out the Burly disk array and replace the disk set allowing for a set to be taken offsite, while ensuring that I have a RAID0 backup of all my data on both computers and my Drobo.

Have I gone wrong somewhere or does this seem like an acceptable strategy?

Regards

Alan Schenk

You can't pull the Macbook backup over airport, but you can 'push' it to a published volume (in an image), as explained in the User's Guide. Otherwise, it seems like it'll work.

Ok, thanks Dave. By that I assume you mean obtaining another copy of SD, putting it on the Macbook and mounting my Burly partition as an image so SD on the Macbook can read and backup to it?
