Files growing until drive full
Hi,
I'm curious about the bug "in a low-level Apple routine we use where, if certain files are written to at the same moment we're copying it -- typically over and over -- it'll look larger than it really is, and get copied until the disk is full" problem. Is there any hope for this being fixed? Thanks. -Heath |

There's always hope Apple will fix it, yes.

Maybe I should have been a little more elaborate... is there any hope of ShirtPocket working around the Apple bug? Like maybe when running out of space, SuperDuper! compares the last file it copied to the source file and if it's size is out of control, delete it and resume from there. I know, very presumptuous of me -- I'm sure you've tried working around it. Thanks, Heath |

It's something on our radar, of course, but we have other things to work on... it doesn't happen very often, so we haven't put extensive engineering effort into working around the fundamental problem.
Note that we do actually try two more times to copy it, in case it was only active transiently...
