Single Schedule 5x/week or 5 Schedules?

I've been using Super Duper for over a year, and have backups setup in a single schedule running 5 days a week. Every backup goes to a removable REV35 drive (with a scripted eject command) and then the local staff are supposed to put in the next days REV35 disk/cartridge each morning. About once a week I'm onsite and I'll look at Super Duper to see how the backups have been going, and most weeks I can't tell if we had 5 good backups or how many. Sometimes I think we have forgetful staff or a drive problem where the disk won't be mounted properly.

All my settings are the same from one day to the next, but I'm considering changing my Schedule instead of a single Schedule for backups M, T, W, Th, & Sun, to be 5 Schedules (one for each day on a weekly basis). The main advantage to me would be checking one screen to see when the last backups were run for each day of week. I think this would help me tell if someone isn't putting in the disk or the drive isn't mounting properly so Super Duper can't run.

If someone forgets to insert the REV35 for several days, I don't want to have multiple scheduled backups trying to run at one time. Anything I'm missing?

Thanks,
Mike Nixon

Send a message via AIM to dnanian
You could use Growl (www.growl.info) to notify you of successful/failed backups instead...
