Any possible way to do full backups to DroboShare?

After doing a bit of searching, it seems like it might be impossible to do a full, direct backup to a network-mounted share like the one provided by a Drobo & Droboshare. Is there any way around this, or is it part of the limitations of using a network mount?

I know I can manually run ditto but I was really hoping to use my new Droboshare in a similar way to how I used the Drobo when it was connected directly to my machine.
