FW, USB, Thunderbolt?

Hello,

I haven't posted here in some time. Mainly because SD! just works. Thank you.

I'm considering a new iMac and noticed they no longer have FireWire ports. At one time that interface was preferred by SD! over USB. Maybe that was in the 2.0 days and the 3.0 ports are now acceptable?

What about thunderbolt? Would either be a good choice for a clone / backup drive or should I plan using a Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter?

Thanks
