root creation date glitch?
I've been using SuperDuper for quite a while and have never had a problem. Today, after doing a Smart Update to my internal backup drive in the G4MDD (as a precaution before installing the latest Apple Security Update) I then Repaired Disk on the backup drive and rebooted into the backup to make sure everything was normal. I never got beyond the blue screen and spinning gear. Had to shut down the Mac and reboot with Option key to boot back into my normal startup drive. I ran Disk Warrior on the backup drive and it found an error with the creation date, plus one small problem with an icon. After rebuilding the directory on the backup drive I was able to boot it and everything seems fine.
Was just wondering if the SuperDuper backup munged the creation date and could this lead to the startup problem that I experienced? Doesn't sound likely but this is the first time I've had issues booting from the backup. cheers, ncm G4 MDD Dual 1.25 GHz/2 Gb RAM OSX 10.4.9 G4 PowerBook al 1.33 GHz/1.25Gb RAM OSX 10.4.9 |
