No boot on new PM Quad core...

Have a SATA 'Cuda installed on internal disk bus and cloned a system disk to the drive. Start disk control panel recognizes the cloned drive and the system folder and allows selection, but when I try to boot it always goes back to the factory system drive. I'm going to try an install from the OSX DVD to see if it will at least boot from the drive. Brand new system, 10.5.2.
Other suggestions?
