Wicked. Slow. Back. Ugh...

Backing up to a network drive over Airport Extreme, the performance is stultifyingly slow. I gave up when, after over 8 hours, it had only made it about halfway. The speed topped out at 0.89MB/s. I'm wondering if the problem might be not enough room to jockey files around in the process.

Capacity: 55.88 GB
Available: 6.81 GB

Other details are "Backup - all" and "Smart Update".

Should I perhaps do the first backup with a direct connection, and then do subsequent smart updates via the convenience of the network drive?
