I did, and I was wondering if SD! could be used to make exact "duplicates" of the entire boot drive, like CCC... . I like the SD! SmartUpdate feature, but I was reading that I should also have "duplicates" of my system and I thought of CCC, but I would rather use SD! .

You bet -- that's what "Backup - all files" is. "Smart Update" is just a technique for updating that duplicate/backup that's much faster than erasing and copying all over again.
