system crash
Hi,
sorry if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find a thread for it. I have tried twice to do a full back up of internal HD to a sparce disk image on a USB2 external drive alongside other data. no other apps were running, airport off, etc... It crashes my system, dead screen, no response from force quit. I have not seen this actually happen as on both occasions I had left the macbook to get on with it... only option is a power button restart... I'm running latest versions of Leopard and super duper... any advice? How do I get a crash log for the crash? thanks for any help, I'm pretty keen to do a back up since I have one of the fated seagate china drives witht the bad firmware and it is about a year and a half old... cheers |

Doesn't sound like a crash: sounds to me like you've got a bad internal or external drive that's locking up your system.
Have you tried starting in "Safe Boot" (hold down Shift from power on all the way to the desktop) and copying then?
