Raidz1 zfs nas

Hi there,

I have a quick question to which I have a feeling I know the answer: I have a RAIDZ1 ZFS NAS box attached to my network, I can make backups to a sparsebundle on the NAS but following that I can't do a smart update as the sparsebundle won't mount.

Is this expected behaviour?

Jamie

Not necessarily: typically, 3rd party NAS devices with substandard AFP implementations (netatalk) don't support sparse bundles. I'm surprised it worked at all (usually you get an error when actually creating the bundle).

Perhaps you can send the log into support with "Send to shirt pocket" so I can take a look?

Yes of course, I'll do so shortly.

I've just noticed actually that I used a sparseimage, not sure I did that intentionally but does that make a difference?

It would explain why it was able to create the image. But I'd still need to see the log to be able to diagnose.
