Not all files copy
Hi. I am running OS X Server 10.4.8. I have done a full copy of my RAID drive to 5 daily external FireWire drives. Then, each day, I do a SmartUpdate. After I did my initial backups I put a small text file into a folder so I would have something to check to make sure the SmartUpdates were working. The file updated to one of the drives but not the other four. In other words, not all of the files are copying!!!!
Does anyone know what to do in this case? I'm kind of freaking out because these backups are VERY important to me. Thanks so much. |

Please try restarting the Finder (Control-Option-Click its dock icon and choose "Relaunch".) I think you'll find the file is there...

holy crap! You're right. I've never heard of that before. Why doesn't the file appear after a restart??
Thanks so much! |

The file should certainly appear after a restart. But Finder doesn't always refresh properly when files are copied "behind its back". Relaunching it forces it to use what's really on the drive, rather than what it has cached.

Well, thanks so much. I'm thrilled that it's working.
And your response was so fast. Thanks, again. |
