SD 2.1.4 - LaCie firewire drive doesn't boot

I am a new mac user. It is a G4 laptop running OSX 10.1.4.

I used an unregistered copy of SD to copy all files from
MacHD -> LaCie FW 250 GB drive (design by porsche)

The drive was brand new. I formatted it and the resulting
log was "HFS Plus volume with a 24576K journal".

The initial copy completed without error and then "Make
LaCie drive bootable" was checked.

If I then reboot while holding down the "T" key, the LaCie
logo floats on the screen, but it never boots from the drive.

I thought I waited long enough, but is there anything I can
check on the drive? I don't want to change System Preferences
because then if there is a problem booting from the LaCie,
I may have a bigger problem.

Thank you in advance for any pointers.

Anne
