To me, this looks like a developer-decision based on his understanding of user needs. Fair enough. But I think you got it wrong in this case, that's all.

I totally agree. I have just run into the pain of sparse images not automatically shrinking. I suppose I could add a before/after script to shrink it, but then I thought "Why can't I just have the backup go to a folder where the image is instead?"
I suppose I may see if I can trick the OS into mounting a folder and see if SuperDuper will see/backup to that.
If you guys aren't going to do Folder to Folder, well that's that, but is there a particular reason?
