Excellent. I'd like to minimize figuring out those details and avoid unpleasant surprises but I still want to understand what's happening. Having the scripts as a starting point should work well.

Didn't see any mention of it in the man page. I'll probably use rsync(x) for keeping my iBook updated with some eMac changes (e.g. /usr/local) but be more conservative with backups.

Off to do some SD testing now...
