Question Transferring from 2nd Gen MBP to 3rd Gen

I'm planning on replacing my second generation MacBook Pro laptop with a third generation model.

I know that normally the recommendation is to install the operating system with the supplied OS disc and then transfer the data, but given that the underlying system is identical is there any reason I can't just boot from the 2nd Gen MBP SuperDuper! backup and perform a full system restore to the 3rd Gen MBP?

The 3rd generation MBP's disk drive will be larger than the 2nd generation's disk drive. Does this introduce any issues?

And lastly, any reason why I can't just connect the two systems via Firewire, put the 3rd Gen MBP in target mode, boot the 2nd Gen MBP from the OS X disc and then drag the 2nd Gen MBP's HDD on top of the 3rd Gen MBP? Will using SD! ensure a full, complete and verified disc image?

Thanks!
