Superduper to the rescue, but how?

I bought superduper, got a lacie hd, backed up my macbook, and a week later my hd crashed. First time in 15 years. Perfect timing

So I got my macbook back today. New clean harddrive with only the OS. I really don't want to make a mistake getting the my stuff back on the new hd, but I can't find any information on this, as simple as it sounds.

Do I boot up the new clean OS, download superduper, connect it with my external hd and just bring everything from my external hd to my new hd?

I'm sure there's already info on this topic. If someone just wants to point me to that info, that would be fine.

Thanks in advance.
