Talking New netTunes shortly with AppleScript support!

In the next few weeks I'm going to be releasing a new version of netTunes that's scriptable. Not only can you script actions within netTunes' own interface, but aspects of the remote iTunes can be scripted as well.

These include:

- Getting the state of the remote iTunes (stopped/playing/paused/etc)
- Getting the current track, and associated information (artist, album, title, duration, position)
- Setting various modes (play, pause, next, prev, stop)
- Getting/setting the remote iTunes volume

Using this support, all sorts of things can be done, including implementing most of the iTunes-related widgets that you can find on VersionTracker -- but you can do so without risking the security issues present when you turn on remote AppleScript events, since only a limited number of actions are allowed.

I've whipped up a few examples that will be shipping with the next version -- and I hope you'll be inspired to one-up me with vigor!

Hope you'll like it!

What do you think?
