Just to add: I'd like to keep the ZFS array intact for now not just for the convenience but also because learning how to access the ZFS array from MacOS is a part of the exercise.

Preventing internal backup disk(s) from mounting at boot

On my Mac Pro, SuperDuper! automatically clones the boot drive to an internal disk every morning.

But I don't want the backup disk mounted when SD! is not running.
